COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) is causing a huge concern to the global population due to its highly contagious properties. The SARS-CoV-2 is a new variant in the coronavirus family. The world is focussing on several methods to battle against this novel corona virus, including control of its spread. In this context, ARCI has quickly made efforts to develop disinfection systems including a UVC-based disinfection trolley, honeycomb air heater and a fogging chamber using UVC germicidal lamps, dry heat sterilization and HOCl-based chemical disinfectant to provide rapid and effective inactivation of microorganisms causing the pandemic. These systems have been successfully deployed at different hospitals for their validation.

The surgeon needs to have an inexpensive, available, nontoxic, and practical disinfectant that is effective in sanitizing against the COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) virus. The purpose of this article was to review the evidence for using hypochlorous acid in the office setting on a daily basis. The method used to assemble recommendations was a review of the literature including evidence for this solution when used in different locations and industries other than the oral-maxillofacial clinic facility. The results indicate that this material can be used with a high predictability for disinfecting against the COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) virus.

The emergence of the COVID-19 and its rapid pandemic spread throughout the world has tested modern technology in an unprecedented manner. It has led to a litany of approaches to both mitigate and test for the disease. Countries and businesses are now searching for answers on how and when to reopen their doors and return to some semblance of normalcy after extensive, government mandated, shelter-in-place shutdowns have rocked their economies. An important concern now, is how to quickly assure the public that the 2019 novel coronavirus has been mitigated and cleared from their spaces of business (office buildings, hotels, restaurants, manufacturing facilities, institutions, transportation services, airlines, cruise ships and the like) by their cleaning and disinfection efforts. This paper will describe a second field study using the latest, on-site, qPCR environmental surface testing protocol for SARS-CoV-2 to validate cleaning and disinfection practices. This test is currently available for use.

EcoloxTech systems were used to generate a 130 ppm electrolyzed water solution of hypochlorous acid. A greater than 4-log reduction or complete kill was obtained on all 3 replicates studied after a 5 minute contact time. This test was performed in order to substantiate virucidal efficacy claims for a test substance to be labeled as a virucide by determining the potential of the test substance to disinfect hard surfaces contaminated with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-related Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (COVID-19 Virus). This test was designed to simulate consumer and was performed in conformance to EPA OCSPP 810.2000 (2018) and 810.2200 (2018) Product Performance Test Guidelines.
